Miscellany

Looks like it’s going to be a quiet Monday. I’ve been to my Boomers Bootcamp exercise class – not as tough as the title – and am now toned up and virtuous. Nothing more exiting ahead than some writing and a trip out to get fruit later.

Sitting on our porch today, I managed to get a shot of one of the hummingbirds that visit our feeder, no small accomplishment with just a phone camera and a fast bird. This one chirps to itself as it eats, maybe a “Num, num, num” sort of comment?

I stopped off at Joanne’s Fabrics yesterday and was annoyed to
see this. On July 31st, yet.

And a couple of weeks ago while out walking in our complex, I went by this truck parked in front of one unit and had to go back for a second look.

It had the official UHaul rental logo all over it, but it was also covered in signs like this. They appeared to be bolted on. Aside from the idiocy of the message, not to mention being late to the party after two years of masking, I couldn’t work out the situation. Had someone rented a truck just for this purpose, attaching their brainless message on it? Or had they bought the UHaul truck? Those signs were really anchored into the body of the vehicle, something I’m sure the UHaul folks wouldn’t appreciate. Not sure how the corporation stands on the subject.

  1. Yeah, our grocery store already has Halloween stuff out too.

  2. With those signs bolted in place I wonder whether they came from the local UHaul franchise. Big sigh.
    I have hummingbird envy.

  3. I hate the back to school flyers appearing in the mailbox. Poor kids are barely out and the ads are shoving them back again.

    1. It would be more impressive if I hadn't first taken about 10 shots until I got one that wasn't a blur.

  5. Great capture on the humming bird. It's a bit early for Halloween shopping, on the other hand, people on a budget, or low income can lay-by items and have them in time for the big day.

  6. You did well with the hummer.

I wonder how much of the sign quote was taken out of context? Not that I ever really practiced wearing a mask outdoors. I also stayed away from crowds, so my outdoor time was pretty safe. I still mask indoors at stores.

  7. That's sort of ridiculous. How much shopping does anybody have to do for Halloween anyway? Love the hummer shot. Today when I was doing my outdoor exercises, a hummer checked me out but left quickly. :-)

    1. I bet doing exercises outdoors would make them much more palatable - especially with hummingbirds helping.
