Happily Humdrum Here

(Fellow bloggers: Any idea why I can no longer adjust the size of the font, or see what I'm doing on the composition page, or even make separate paragraphs, among other things? This is awful and is enough to send me to Word Press)

(PS - I just discovered I must have been in the HTML view, not compose. I'll leave my panic-stricken comment above in case the same has happened to someone else. Phew!)

We’re receiving updates from our daughter in the hills of New Jersey on their ever-increasing accumulation levels of snow.

In the interest of not being disowned, I’ve refrained from whining about the 50 degree temps here and having to wear shoes instead of sandals. At this point, their town is at about 30 inches and climbing. Even their slap-happy, winter-loving golden retriever Bowie refuses to go outside. The fact that it’s as high as his head may have something to do with this.

On the dog front here, Mamie came with me this morning for a run to CVS, where she waited in the car while I ran in to fill a prescription. Since she’s always convinced I’m going to leave her and never return, she was still whimpering as we drove to our next event, dropping books off at the library. This time she came with me and we popped them into the outside return slot, and then had a stroll around the parking lot. So, big day for her. Tonight I imagine we’ll settle back into our tv viewing routine and watching Mamie as she commutes from one end of the couch – tile, no rug – to the other end of the couch – cozy bed – at intervals.

  1. Hooray for Mamie's big day.
I can remember a snow storm (lesser than the one which your daughter is beset with) discouraging our cats from going out. The cleverest once they had gone out made a bee line for the roof and snuggled up against the warm chimney.

    1. Smart kitties. Ours would hover in the cellar window wells.

  2. Yikes, that's enough snow! We managed to dodge that. Poor little pup and her separation anxiety. -Jenn

  3. I am so pleased not to live east of here right now. We've had six or eight inches, enough.

    1. Anything over 5 inches is automatically annoying.

  4. Well, nobody with any sense would go out in that snow! And I have learned to love little timid Mamie through your blog posts. :-)

    1. And yet I have a later photo of her out walking the dog. But if you have an eager golden retriever, that's what you do.

  5. I got caught on this problem a year ago. I was devastated until I accidentally discovered that I had clicked on the wrong thing.

    1. You can't IMAGINE the tooth gnashing that went on here until I figured it out.

  7. I can do a little html, but the new Blogger dissaudes me as it is just one continuous block of text that I can't navigate. At least this is the way that it shows on my screen. And I miss being able to insert simple html codes such as an em dash or the cent sign which I couldn't do just yesterday.

    1. No kidding. Have I mentioned in the last 5 minutes how much I hate the new Blogger?
