Leafing Home

If two straight days of lying on my side painting baseboards, coupled with being scrunched on the stairs painting risers wasn’t enough, I did receive a reminder yesterday of why we need to sell our house – and soon.

All those glorious trees that for 20+ years provided privacy, cooling shade, homes for our owls and hawks, also provide a workout that can rival any gym membership.

Three and a half straight hours of raking and blowing all those leaves into the woods left me with an urge to rush back to our condo and embrace the landscape ladies. (Interestingly, our lawns, shrubs, and trees are managed by two ladies who look like they just left the country club links and one buff guy who is usually out in a t-shirt regardless of the temperature.)

As usual, Mamie was a big help.

  2. I could not paint base boards anymore. Good for you far being able to do the baseboards.

    1. It's the getting up off the floor that's tricky.

  5. I'd be happy to leave all that behind too. Not that I would rake and blow in the first place. I'd leave the leaves where they fell, as mulch for the next season. I'm lazy that way.

  6. Your dog is a hoot! I don't envy you all those leaves. Raking is a hard job (or deafening, blower-wise). At least you have a woods and don't have to bag the buggers. And the up side -- you can feel no guilt enjoying a big chocolate dessert as a reward.
