As we sat
outside enjoying a pre-dinner drink tonight, we discovered that one of us must
have invited company without informing the other. We looked up to find a mother
and her kids crossing the yard for a visit. Good thing we’d both discarded our
gardening clothes for togs more suitable for entertaining.
Satchel,
however, needs to work on his social skills. He didn’t even realize we had
visitors until they were on their way home.
I'm not sure it that was meant to be sad or funny, but I laughed. Especially at pic 4. Are those wild turkeys? I have them somewhere on a blog. I was afraid of them at the time. There was a flock of them. They are big!
ReplyDeleteYes, we have wild turkeys wandering around from time to time. When we moved here, they creeped me out because when I first saw them the scale was so out of whack compared to the robins and bluebirds I usually saw.
DeleteThat is toooo funny. I have a similar picture of my cat and a wild turkey. The cat in complete cat pounce mode, the turkey within striking distance and an invisible cartoon cloud over its head: "Try it, stupid."
ReplyDeleteStupid did not try.
Satchel's bunk mate, Sidney, an orange Tom, used to stalk them, but without any success. As soon as he got close, they'd helicopter up and he'd be left staring at grass.
DeleteHa ha, Satchel is definitely retired. What a cool bunch of visitors you had. Loved the babies and good to know they were all safe from Satchel.
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe Satchel knows his limitations!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Your pictures are perfect. Poor Satchel. I love how the mama turkey keeps looking at him like she is not believing this.
ReplyDeleteProbably best Satchel refused to acknowledge the guests!
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy I haven't had time to visit. we saw two male turkeys on the side of the road heading into the city last week and when we returned, they were still there only with tails spread.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had a tom in our yard for a while. We used to see one in the spring, with two or three girlfriends in tow. He would spread his tail and pirouette around while they completely ignored him.
