Calling all wanna-be ukelele players

Since I had finished my last batch of library books and was avoiding the one for my book club (like a grumpy 9th grader, I hate being told what to read), off I went to get more reading material.

Our library is a small one, or maybe I’ve just read up everything by my favorite authors, so sometimes I’ll go to a neighboring town to see what they have. Still, there were a few new finds. I’m only on page 35 of Ian McEwan’s Atonement but it looks promising. The writing is certainly impressive.

I tend to just march into the fiction section and march right out, but that day I meandered a bit and found all kinds of things.

An Eagle scout's project for discarded flags -

These interesting and very non-reading kits:

Party in a bag.

For future ornithologists -

Or prep for that trip to Hawaii -

And I thought the lost and found collection in the lobby display case was inspired. (Or driven by an overflowing bunch of detritus they’re sick of tripping over..)

All of which I thought was pretty innovative for a small-town library.

  1. I've never read the novel "Atonement" but I saw the 2007 British movie that was made of it. The movie is very good, if you can find it somewhere.

    1. I've wished to try many things in life but the ukelele was never one of them. :o)
