I visited another land this past weekend.
A land few people my age might consider traveling.
The land of STEAMPUNK.
Steampunk is a relatively new term
coined in the 1980s to describe a fantasy world that echoes elements from the
Victorian era and industrialization.
There were Steampunk fashions.
And installations by local artists.
The opening was held in the sculpture gallery of our local museum,
a wonderfully off-beat combination.
Attendees were encouraged to dress accordingly. Some were fairly sedate.
Others really embraced the opportunity.
And others seemed born for the part.
I had a wonderful time, but perhaps other reviews were mixed.
Ahhh, a true delight!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to have fun...dress up!
ReplyDeleteI've heard the term and not given it much thought. Of course the clothing is fabulous, the beer seems wonderful, and oh, that cashmere shawl over the old gent's arm.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter Lynn from amothersjournal.com loves Steampunk. I've never really understood what Steampunk is. I will have to have her look at your post!
ReplyDeleteIt really can be a world of its own. The creativity of it is fun.
DeleteLook at that! Nifty.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite an evening. My favorite was the dignified man obviously well into his 70s who spent the night in swim goggles.
