Lions and Tigers and Chicks

In today's world, fraught with horror, I just know you’ve been waiting breathlessly for this week’s newsletter from our granddaughters’ preschool. Among last week’s activities:

·         Using hands and scissors to shred/cut toilet paper for the clean mud project. I can just see the paper flying. And what’s a clean mud project? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

·         Using tape, and markers to build tall buildings and icebergs for polar bears and penguins (we used the markers to color bathing suits for them!)

Building caves for mountain lions, tigers, leopards and turtles in the block area Bathing suits and caves? The animal contingent seems to be well cared for

Scooping buttons with large ladles, spoons, and different size cups Have you ever run your hands through your grandma’s button box? Very satisfying – it should be included in all therapy sessions

Visualizing a calm place/space First the buttons, then visualizing. I could have used this class after a tough day at work.

And best of all, this forecast of things to come:

·         We are partnering up with Casey Farm to participate in their Project Chick. We will be taking care of them, while they're in an incubator until they hatch!

Now I’d really like to pull up a tiny chair to a tiny table and join in.

  1. I think this should be an adult offering. I fancy all of the above. Pouring buttons! Hatching chicks! What a great school.

  2. "Clean mud" -- must be wet toilet paper? I dunno.

What happens to those chickens when they grow up? That's what I'd like to know. Or maybe not.

    1. Yeah. Probably best not to think too far ahead.

  3. That is such a sweet picture and makes me realize that there is still plenty of beauty around us all. I look forward to seeing pictures of those chicks! :-)

  4. You can probably do a similar relaxing therapy right at home. Haunt the thrift shops until you have a bucket of buttons, waste a roll of toilet paper and get creative.

    1. Actually, after a lifetime of sewing projects, I have my own cookie tin of buttons!

  6. This sounds so perfect and soothing to me. Wonderful for the children. But...no photos?

  7. It would probably be illegal for me to post pics of other people’s kids. Plus I usually prefer not to publish our twins photos on social media.

  8. Oh childhood! Why can't we do this stuff as adults? I'm glad the animals are wearing colorful bathing suits.
