New Year

A nice slow day here to begin the year. It’s a warm 45 degrees out, but rainy, so we’ve tucked ourselves away for the day.

Our wild New Year’s Eve included shrimp cocktails for two on the recently glassed-in porch (a space heater helped, too), sitting in the twilight.

Today I walked My Guy through the fundamentals of Mahjong with the new set that Santa brought. I think he gained new respect for my mission to become adept at it. Next goal – finding enough Covid-free people that I feel safe sitting with at a small table.

May your 2022 be healthy and mellow.

          Happy New Year

  2. I'm sitting here looking out at a frozen landscape, icy sidewalks and roads, happy to be inside and not out there. Happy New Year!

  3. Ha Ha, I laugh at your "warm" 45F while thinking there aren't enough blankets in my whole house to keep me warm at that temperature which is 7.5C. We spent two days at 37C-38C which is 98.6F -100.4F, hot for sure, but not too bad as long as there is airconditioning to get home to.
I have never played Mahjong, I don't know anyone who has, but I don't do well with most board games, apart from Scrabble where I now get beaten by those who know more words than I do.
I like the thought of your glassed in porch with a small heater, it sounds so cosy.

    1. Mahjong is a real test for the brain.
And I hate playing Scrabble with My Guy - my vocabulary is about 4x his, but he beats me through strategizing points every darn time.

  4. Happy New Year. It is years since I have played Mahjong - and yes it stretched me. 45F sounds good to me. And unlike River it is a temperature we often get down too.

  5. You know, I've heard about Mah-Jongg all my life, and I know nothing about it! (Except that old-fashioned spelling. :) )
