Shear Conundrum

As of 10:28 this morning, things are going to get pretty hairy around here. Or, at least one thing will.

I packed an enthusiastic Mamie into the car this morning and then listened for the next ten minutes as her mutterings from the back seat grew increasingly apprehensive. We arrived, I lifted her from the seat, and as usual was grateful I’d attached her leash as she started toward the street to go somewhere, anywhere else than here at the groomers.

Once at the door, we stood there unable to go in, and if Mamie could read, she would have felt like a death row inmate who hears that call from the governor just before entering the execution chamber. Because there on the door was a hand scribbled sign that said:

     Temporarily closed due to Covid.

Huh? I stood there dumbly for a few minutes, rereading the sign. I mean I had an appointment, dagnab it! And a dirty, wooly dog.

I have no idea how long they’ve been closed, or how soon they’ll open.

In the meantime, I wonder how long it’ll be before we go from the Mamie we have now

to the Mamie we first adopted.

  1. Did she get a friend to post that notice? I'm darkly suspicious about this.

  2. So glad my groomer is open. The only rule is one customer in at a time.

  3. How annoying, they should have called you. Are you able to do at least a little trimming of Mamie yourself?

    1. I might give trimming her eyebrows a shot so she can at least see.
The joys of having a dog with hair, not fur.

  4. Good luck - though Marnie probably thinks she has just had a stroke of good luck.

  5. It's weird they didn't notify you! You'd think they'd send a message to everyone with appointments. Do you have any other grooming options? Dave and I used to take our dogs to PetSmart (I think, or some big chain) in New Jersey for grooming. (When we lived there, obviously!)

    1. Getting in to a new groomer is harder than finding a date for the prom.
I've sent an online application (!) to one and hope to hear back. It's definitely a trimmer's market right now.

  6. I do hope you are able to find a groomer, but she doesn't look all that bad. Yet, anyway. :-)
