It began with
an oil change at my favorite garage. I arrived and was pleased that there was
plenty of seating and settled into a chair to while away the time with my book.
Good
But after I’d
committed to my chair I realized it was directly under a speaker for the TV,
which was launching into some version of People’s Court.
Annoying.
But then the
owner emerged and changed the channel to the news.
Good
When my car
was done, I learned that they couldn’t replace the transmission fluid since
with my model it was sealed in and the only people with the software for the
task would be a dealer.
Annoying
But then
again, my transmission is behaving itself, so why fix what isn’t broken. And as
I pulled out of their lot, I noticed they’d cleaned my windows.
Good
On the way
home, I scouted out a new dog groomer since at Mamie’s last trip our usual
groomer’s shop looked grimy. Plus, on that trip I had noticed the groomer was
trimming a dog with a vacuum/trimmer so loud she had on headphones. The dog
didn’t.
The place I
stopped into today looked orderly and clean. It was also empty, with only one
dog and one groomer, but she explained they weren’t really open – she’d come in
early to do this one dog because it was a scaredy-cat like Mamie. Bingo, I’d
hit the jackpot.
Good
Next stop,
the grocery store, and I pulled into a spot and walked back to the store the
carriage someone had left in the middle of the neighboring parking place. I
strode in to do my shopping, filled with my own wonderfulness at being so
considerate.
Good
I came out
only to find another cart parked between my car and the one on the other side, making it impossible for me to back out.
I exclaimed, “Really?” and marched it to the carriage corral only ten feet
away.
Annoying.
But still, I
was done with my errands and could now go home for lunch and maybe even a nap.
Good
Interesting juxtapositions going on here. I enjoyed your mercurial day description. And I do hope you have a good lunch and possibly a nap! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad that you had a balance. Or perhaps that you could see that balance. Which I often forget at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt's always something, isn't it? Glad you found Mamie another groomer. Those grocery carts!! Have you ever been circling around the lot looking for a parking place, see an empty one a row over, but when you get there, there is a grocery cart in the center! I love the way you write and the things you write about. Need to catch up on your posts I've missed. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteMarty, good grief! I meant to say congratulations on your new twin granddaughters! You must be so excited! If I remember right, you had three grandsons. How wonderful! Have I missed a post about them? I will look back. :)
ReplyDeleteHi - good to hear from you. Yes, I haven't posted much about the twins but they are ridiculously adorable. And even though it's obvious that they're fraternal, I'm constantly amazed at how different they are from each other, even at 7 months.
DeleteI believe the good's won. Good.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found a sympathetic groomer for Mamie and I too get annoyed at people who leave their shopping carts everywhere but in the corral.
ReplyDeletePretty good overall, but those shopping carts are annoying.
