If I only had a brain

Ah, the comfort of wandering our town library and finding something by a favorite author. And once home, possibly setting it aside in the pile, to read last.

And then the moment when you finally open it, read the first page and realize it’s familiar. . . .

               And to really feel like
an idiot, looking at the flyleaf of that book and seeing the helpful attachment so that you can leave your initials as a reminder that you’ve already read it.

And then seeing your own initials.

  1. I have over the years picked up a Tom Clancy book and started reading it only to realize about 50 pages in that I have started that same book a dozen times of more and always gotten to about page 50 and always stopped reading it.,

  2. The thing to do is check for initials before you check the book out and bring it home.

  3. Oops! That's funny. My grandfather used to write "read" inside the cover of his Erle Stanley Gardner novels so he wouldn't pick them up again. (Or at least would do so knowing he'd read it once already!)

  4. I have done that! At first I thought it was a different book with the same character but nope. Same book. I've read The Midnight Library. I had to go back and read my review to see if I liked it which I did.
