I went to an art show on Saturday.
This show may have awakened that old urge to pore over bolts of fabric and thumb through quilting patterns.
There were the usual meticulously crafted ones, too often of muddy sensible colors.
But then I'd round a corner and things would perk up a bit.
The off-beat design and bright colors of this one just made me happy.
And then things got that much more exuberant.
And next whimsy, wonderful whimsy arrived.
I couldn't stop smiling when I looked at this entry.
But hang in there - there's one more. . . . .
the pièce de résistance -
Residents at this mobile home park decided to make a quilt
depicting their complex.
No small achievement, it includes their pond, clubhouse, pool, gardens, common area, shuffleboard courts, and 141 homes. It took six years to produce this massive quilt. It’s so large that about 1/4th of it is under the fold at the bottom.
I've given away much of my fabric stash, and most of the
quilts I made over the years. How many quilts does a person need?
But
painters don’t use the available footage left on their walls to determine whether
or not to get out their paints.

I haven't been to a quilt show in ages -- I enjoy them too from an artistic point of view. That trailer park quilt is an amazing work of love. And I agree with you -- the various birds and eggs one is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow. They look good.
ReplyDeleteI liked the chicken one, made me smile. And the last one is a labour of love. I also smiled when you said "warning many pics ahead"... This isn't a lot at all. 😁
The "offbeat" one looks very similar to my shopping trolley. Those background squares are the same colours in the same sequence. I love it.
