Quiet Weekend

My Guy is away for the weekend, and I should be accomplishing no end of productive projects. It’s not as though I couldn’t do these things when he’s home, but something about having a silent house makes me feel both guilty and free.

I’ve at least finished one audio book and I’m halfway through reading a new Anthony Horowitz book. Like his other, Magpie Murders, this one, Marble Hall Murders, is a book within a book within a book. It takes a fair amount of concentration to sort out the characters since this Russian Doll sort of plot uses the same initials for the parallel people, and the background on them is much the same.

The rest of the day will be a stay at home one anyway since the weather is rainy and cool, discouraging even a stroll outside. Who knows – I might actually get back to working on book 5, since I have absolutely no excuse not to.

My Guy is off in Atlanta for a hobby show – a gathering and competition of people who build and paint replicas and original figures and scenes, some historic, some fantasy, He generally brings home at least one award whenever he attends.

His display this time is all "flats", scenes with two dimensional figures which he paints, along with the backgrounds.

He took my car, since it’s newer and the safer vehicle for the three+hour trip. He went to a friend’s in Ocala, who then drove the two of them in his own car to Atlanta. Our old 2019 car used to be mine and I drove it to work for almost 10 years, but it’s getting creaky and now it feels enormous and unfamiliar; a Sherman tank would feel diminutive by comparison.

I’ll welcome both Honda and hubby with open arms tonight.
