I just realized yesterday that my life has been full of doppelgangers.
Just to name the first three that popped into my head:
Years ago, there was a repairman that I liked so much, I only
bought Whirlpool appliances – the brand he specialized in. (Counterintuitive I
know. I mean, buying something on the premise that it will need repair at some
point?) No hanky-panky, by the way. He was just really nice to my cats.
The carpenter my husband became friends with at his coffee gatherings in the center of town worked on both our last
house, and then had a hand in some of the changes we made when we moved to here
to the condo. A former motorcycle cop, his resemblance to actor Joe Pesci was
remarkable.
It's been bugging me forever, but now I
finally know who my hairdresser looks like.

I oftren see people in the city when I go there, that resemble famous people and later I once heard on the TV news that I HAD actually seen that famous person strolling through the mall eating an ice cream cone. I also saw a woman in a clinic waiting room recently who looked exactly like another blogger I follow.
ReplyDeleteIt happens to me the most when I travel far from home. I'll see someone who couldn't possibly be there.
DeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me smile to see your doppelgangers.
ReplyDeleteDon't "they" say everyone has a twin somewhere in the world?
ReplyDeleteExactly, Steve.
DeleteMy first year at college there was a girl who was my doppelganger. She was a drama student, I was an art student and people who didn't really know us confused us. She left after the first semester leaving her boyfriend behind. Then he asked me out and I declined, not a stand in.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Of all the nerve. Some people (men?) can be so transparent.
