We had a visit from the grand-twins and their parents yesterday, a long overdue visit despite texts and phone calls in between.
We enjoyed a lunch imported by son and wife and then had time to chat while the girls played quietly upstairs with the old FisherPrice people - once used long ago by their aunt. Granted, they’re 7 now, but it still felt weird to have a continuous conversation with no one galloping through in the middle of it. Very different from earlier times with the three grandsons on the other side of the family.
My Guy did join them after a while and helped them set up the castle and knights we’d originally bought for the boys. He said they weren’t too sure at first what to do with it, but soon they were into it, even figuring out how to set up the drawbridge, which neither he nor I are any good at.
And rather than joisting to the death or battle charges, there was (of course!) a wedding between the prince and the princess as the king and queen looked on
