Growing and Viewing

This fella was outside the window as I wrote.

Sunday was a bit aimless, although I did get a few things done.

It began with my usual yoga class, which passes in stages - Denial (this is killing my knee, why am I here?), Acceptance (okay, at least this pose doesn’t hurt), Relief (I can do this, glad I came, happy it’s over).

As soon as I arrived home, since it was going to be hot, I watered the garden while three
neighbors kept me company.

I’ve begun trying to document what the heck is in the garden, since I still have difficulty identifying what’s what until it blooms, making weeding a bit chancy.

Hosta and anonymous clumps of green

I’m labeling things as I identify them, and making note of what I’ve put in this year.

Ridiculous that I can’t remember from year to year what I have, but residents like my black-eyed Susans that hop from place to place aren’t helping.

I inherited quite a few plants when we bought
the condo, case in point the island around the tree in back. I know there are day lilies, astilbe, clematis, and a beautiful bleeding heart, but there are still a couple of mysterious bushes which I’m finally yanking out if they aren’t going to do anything.

In other news, last night we realized our TV is poke-it-with-a-fork done. It’s been iffy for a while, refusing to change volume level and with a mercurial connection to the internet. Now that we only stream our shows, this is a problem. So My Guy is off on a mission today for a unit that is a reasonable price, but even more importantly, one whose feet will fit on the cabinet where it will sit.

The biggest problem of all? How to get rid of the old one.

  1. Have you heard of an app called "Picture This"? It's great for plant identifying. Just take a photo of the plant within the app and it will tell you all about it -- as well as identify any diseases or care problems. It's possibly the only app on my phone that I actually pay to use. But you don't have to pay -- you can try it free. (I swear they are not paying me!)

    1. Big help, Steve. I do have "Seek" which is basically useless.
