Fishing Expedition

In these perilous times I rely on the blogosphere more and more to escape when I feel I can’t handle all the darkness and impending doom one more minute - and yes, I admit it, to find validation once in a while of my side of things.

Sadly, some of my favorites blog less and less, or more sadly, some are no longer with us (we all still miss you, Weaver). So, imagine my delight when I figured out how to troll for more blogs to add to my reading list.

I went deeper than I usually do into my own site, first entering the Stats zone, then into my handful of Followers, and within that I sifted through their lists of who else they read. I did find a couple of ones new to me that looked promising, but many of those looked to be no longer active.

I came across some I used to follow faithfully and then had to drop after no more entries appeared – Hippo on the Lawn (from Africa) and A Cuban in London (bet you can figure out where that was from). Either our blogging world is shrinking or I need to search a bit more.

  1. I am so very grateful to the blogosphere. I learn from other blogs. I laugh with them, and sometimes I weep with and for them. I miss A Cuban in London and hope he is cycling on...

  2. I've lost a few bloggers including Weaver , but I still have too many.

  3. I think the blogger world is shrinking as fewer young people take it up, preferring the social media sites instead.

  4. I use the blogosphere for the same reasons as you. This whole political climate in the US has stressed me out. I've had yard signs stolen and I use my blog to vent what I cannot always say to family.

    1. Hi Michael. Yes, it's tricky when family members, who you once respected, refuse to acknowledge the danger we're in.

  5. I cherish the bloggers I follow, including you. I'm glad to know you're not going anywhere any time soon.

  6. I appreciate those, like yourself, who still blog regularly. It seems to me more something for the "older" crowd, in general than it was back in the blog heydays. But hey, if the shoe fits...

  7. There are still lots of us out there, fortunately. I keep waiting for the day when Google rolls up the rug on Blogger. Argh!
