Crabby Monday

Aargh...The wrong instructor was there for my morning exercise class.

Not only can we barely hear her feeble tape player, but she has this class of mostly septuagenarians doing jumping jacks and skipping rope, not the best choice since probably a quarter of this group is bouncing on new knees and hips.

Adding to my grumblies, as class began, a woman dashed in and planted herself three feet away from me. Since Covid, we’ve had to sign up ahead of time and position ourselves only in spots designated by the Y. She did neither.

My petty self was pleased to see that she was always out of step, looking like that one Rockette who’d missed rehearsal.

  1. While I disapprove of the planter, I am always out of step. Sigh.

  2. I can no longer skip ropes without being in danger of a dangerous pratfall. I hope your regular instructor is back soon! :-)

  3. Glad to read your post because I am very grumpy at the moment.

  4. Nobody should do jumping jacks at any age. Even children. They're discredited and I wonder what your substitute instructor's credentials are. Those are dangerous moves.

I wonder if she's related to the YouTube instructor I saw recently whose beginning step exercises for seniors were about jumping up a flight of stairs, not holding on! First one step at a time, jump back down backwards, then jump up two steps at a time! She was about 23, the age when you can do this! But I thought it might be an accident waiting to happen.

I am usually the out of stepper!

    1. I had my doubts about her when she called one move a hammer curl (biceps) when we were actually bending our legs back (hamstrings).

  5. My daughter led a jumping jacks exercise one, and fell and etcetcetc. She just had a surgery to repair her shoulder.

    1. Good grief! I just don't like jumping up and down - who knew they were so hazardous?

  6. Those sound like reasonable reasons to be crabby!
