I grew up in Virginia and Oklahoma
and I thought I knew hot.
I remember my non-airconditioned childhood of sleeping in the snow-angel position: spreadeagled on the bed so no body part touches another body part.
I remember my arm sticking to my worksheet as we waited for the last day of school.
I remember my grandparents’ sleeping porch, the source of any possible breeze on an August Oklahoma night.

Our current porch
here in Massachusetts looks cool
and welcoming, doesn’t it?
Look again.
You have all my sympathies. I hope you can find some cool relief.
ReplyDeleteWell, we're not suffering too much. Now that we've moved, we have central air for the first times in our lives.
DeleteThat's way too hot. For me 20 C (70 F) is great.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how we survived the heat...I know we went swimming most evenings and if not we ran around with the water hose or took a dip in the stock tank:)
ReplyDeleteThat temperature looks like a normal summer here in South Australia. I'm sure you were hoping it would be cooler in Massachusetts though being so much further north. Your porch is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour porch does look pretty and inviting, but that is a little too hot. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI love your porch and until I saw that thermometer, it looked perfect. Hope it cools off soon!
ReplyDeleteBeen staying indoors myself. Nice to look at out there, but too damn hot.
ReplyDeletethe rest of the country is enjoying/enduring what our summers are always like though I do wish I had a screened porch or any porch for that matter. my aunt and uncle lived in East Texas and I would visit during the summer. They had a screen porch and I would sleep out there sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. We're wusses here in the North during the summer. But then again, we're troopers when it comes to snow . . .most of the time. We've been known to whine about that, too.
DeleteIt was 36 when I got up, but we're supposed to hit nearly 70 today. I'm unaware of any house in the area that has AC. I've lived in heat, and I don't miss it.
ReplyDeleteYeesh! It's definitely time to stay indoors! We're warm here, relatively speaking, but nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteI have friends who have lived in Texas and swear our summer heat (Ontario) with its high humidity is worse. I can't say for sure, just reporting what they say.
