On Sunday I met my partner-in-pottery-crime to try out the pottery studio in my town. It’s a brand-new venture, run by two young women who started from different places, but they seem to have melded together successfully as business partners.
This was a one day class, a two hour instruction on the wheel. Both my friend and I have done a fair amount of wheel work, but are still a bit shaky and just need time and practice. Lots of practice. But the two of us had the instructor all to ourselves and she was great. We’ll be going back again, and who knows? Maybe fewer of my products will end up at the bottom of my recycling bin.
Of course, the fact that it’s next door
to a brewery wasn’t too shabby either. I
hadn’t seen her in a while, so we sat outside on the shaded patio (she, with a
hard seltzer & me something that was half beer and half orange juice, which
believe it or not, was quite tasty) and talked and talked and talked as women
do.
We
closed the place down at the girls-gone-wild time of 3:30 in the afternoon.
This could definitely ramp up our dedication to pottery.
