Autumn in Massachusetts

Well, it’s here. There’s no escaping it. Granted, our days are now dappled, sunny, and in the upper 50s, but we all know what’s around the corner.

In the meantime, we can just enjoy the view:

One of our windows provides a view of the giant butternut tree that rivals anything I could hang on the wall.

Although this is just over the border in Connecticut, this is the time of year that all the tobacco growers vent the barns to allow the leaves to dry.

And I wish our landscape crew was a little less efficient so I could have a few more days of this beauty in the backyard. (It’s especially beautiful knowing we don’t have to rake them.)

  1. The barn-venting is interesting. I don't think I've ever seen that!

    1. Yes it still fascinates me. Every other board is slatted out to allow the air to circulate.

  3. Beautiful photos! I also didn't know about the barn venting, it's a great idea and good method.
