Shopping and heat

We're having a few things done to the kitchen and in the process I remembered I've always disliked the lights that hang over our kitchen bar.

So, I found these at the Lowes big box store, where I couldn't get anyone to wait on me.

And these at the fancy (and expensive) lighting shop down the road.

Well, that was easy.

We're getting can lights instead, to match the ones we already have.

More shopping - unrelated to kitchen events - ensued.

Just a reminder.

It's July, people.

Later in the day, my cart at Costco made it difficult to lie about my age:

(Tylenol for arthritis, Glucosomine, and cream for, you guessed it, arthritis. )

Meanwhile,  this was the scene outside our window during dinner.

You know it's HOT when you find turkeys in the birdbath.

  1. A different fitting for the glass shade added $78?

  3. That's a heck of a price difference! Wonder if there was a quality difference too? Better hurry and buy your Halloween ornaments early, you don't want to wait and find nothing decent left a few months from now.

    1. Good point! I’d better get right out there. I wonder if the Christmas stuff will be out soon.

  5. I understand it's called "Summerween" - for those who can't wait.
Who pays $200 for a light fixture? Out of my league.

  6. A turkey in the birdbath! Wow, poor thing! It has been extremely hot and humid here in Montreal as well, temperatures Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were a scorching 104 degrees Fahrenheit...40 Celsius. Yike!
Thank you for sharing your post.
