Today being National Selfish Day, today’s blog is all about ME and what makes ME happy.
I’m happy the roses I planted last
year have taken off like gangbusters. Okay, something is eating their leaves,
but hopefully my garden spray will take care of that.
I’m happy my gardens are reasonably tidy
after I finally got out to weed. The bed by the
porch is thick with green. Now if
I only knew what all that green means. Sure, the hostas are dependable workhorses,
laughingly easy to identify. But I can never remember which tall green things
are the black-eyed Susans and which are the daisies. This makes weeding here a
bit problematic. The good news is that
something out there is on the verge of blooming so that should help a little. And
are the coneflowers going to come back? Oh, and why has the mint decided to
move to the middle of the patch?
I’m happy a woman from the book club is coming by today to buy two more of my books after the group read the first one of my mystery series. I’m going to throw in my stand-alone novel since it feels weird to be collecting money from a neighbor.
And I’m happy the book club was not
only kind enough to read something I’ve written, but they were truly kind and
interested during the group discussion on Wednesday.
Which makes me even happier that they
triggered my writing itch and so for the past several I’ve had a parallel life
going on in my head, rife with my characters and possible scenes for them.
And continuing today’s theme, we have
a trivia question:
Which President is costing the
American people one million dollars today for each number of his first term's title?
How great about the book club! Your gardens are looking so nice -- much neater than ours, which we have allowed to run amok.
